What Is General Anesthesia in Dentistry?

That separation matters. Dr. Mosquera focuses entirely on your dental treatment while a dedicated anesthesia professional focuses entirely on you. Vital signs — heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and breathing — are monitored from induction through recovery.

What to Expect
Before. You will be asked not to eat or drink for a set period beforehand, and you must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you afterwards.
During. Anesthesia is induced through an IV line. You will fall asleep within moments and remain monitored throughout.
After. You wake in our recovery area and stay until the CRNA is satisfied you are stable. Grogginess for the rest of the day is normal. Plan to rest, avoid driving or making important decisions for 24 hours, and follow the written aftercare instructions we provide.
