Can Any Dentist Perform IV Sedation?
Most dentists can administer only minimal oral sedation. A small percentage can offer IV conscious sedation. Dr. Mosquera is licensed to perform it and works with licensed CRNAs for lengthy procedures, having completed additional training and been certified by the state Board of Dental Examiners.
Types of Sedation Used in Dentistry

- Oral sedation. A pill taken about an hour before treatment. You become drowsy but stay awake.
- IV conscious sedation. Delivered through a vein so it works quickly, with the level adjusted throughout. You remain semi-awake with little or no memory afterward.
- General anesthesia. Fully asleep for the procedure, provided on site by an independent anesthesia team for selected cases.
